The
little dink passes and delay runs haven't been fooling anyone...with the
exception of Ware getting the 2-pt conversion on that delay/trap TWO WEEKS IN A
ROW. But seriously...when we throw the
ball down field and run right at them, we gain yards at will. Yes, this new offensive line has us running
with FORCE between the tackles. Jacobs had
5.3 YPC last night. Seems like old
times! And, when we establish THAT, we
can freeze their linebackers and safeties with true play action. That's the kind of trickery I like. I expect to see more of that.
The
little dink screen that got picked off by Lee was aggravating because we
were getting tons of yards throwing down field and running right at them. I really thought that moment was our death
knell. But we won the damn game.
Unless
something miraculous happens, I will be vocally in favor of the termination of
Perry Fewell. I realize there are
injuries. There are a lot of guys out
there who were not part of the plan in August.
I get it. But these blown coverages
are the result of miscommunication among experienced VETERANS. The (last) Bryant TD was a result of Rolle
and Webster both jumping the flat. Last
week, Donald Driver scored that 2nd quarter TD when Rolle, Ross and Webster ALL
failed to take the man (and or deep corner zone). You can't blame that on injuries. They are mental and communication
issues. These are 3 first round draft
picks from big schools with over 20 years of combined NFL experience. You can't
make those kinds of mistakes in these situations. No excuse.
Aaron Ross ("The poor
guy") just doesn't physically belong out
there any more. There were
FOUR 4th quarter plays (two on that last 46 second drive) where Ross was just
floundering behind Miles Austin (whose hamstring isn't even 100%). Ross looked like Austin's freaking Geisha, for
Christ's sake! He must have a mental
vision of "Austin 19" burned into his brain from following the back
of that jersey so much.
I
can't believe I'm saying this. But I do
agree with those who contend that if Manningham had caught that TD on the right
side of the end zone with 1:33 remaining, Dallas would have won the game. We would have given them too much time. We weren't stopping them with four downs and
two timeouts at their disposal.
Pierre
Paul is a freak. When our other DEs were
sucking wind (or out) he really stepped up.
I was leery about Jerry Reese's selection of JPP. I thought we had enough great DEs on the
roster and I thought JPP might have lost his ambition once his big contract
lifted his Hatian-American family from poverty.
I was wrong about both.
Eli
Manning is now on pace to throw for 5,052 yards. Good Lord.
He threw about six TD passes in that game. Only two of them were actually caught. I believe in Eli.
Ice
Cream tonight.
