China, Monetary Policy and Dallas @ Giants

By Guest Columnist: W. Allen, Ph.D.

I have to be candid.  I don't have a good feeling about this game.  My unease has nothing to do with our growing Debt to China although it is critical for every American to see how China is reporting the Dallas at Giants matchup. (Click here to see a short translated video.)

Nor, was it because I was born in Brooklyn although I have to admit I do have an over active imagination.  And, I am not just saying that because Jerry Jones is anti-Semite*.  Now, I might be getting “anti-Semite” mixed up with Jones simply “being angry” that Eli Manning autographed Cowboy’s Stadium—winning score and all—after the Giants won the first regular game played there.  Maybe fear is causing the mix-up.

What bothers me includes is fact that both WRs Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham will be playing injured.  And, having DE Osi (where have you been all year?) Umenyiora out there is just going to get RB Brandon Jacobs into trouble.  Expect a helmet into the stands or some punches at Kenyon Coleman.

Go to 56 seconds for a preview (or reminder) of Jacobs mayhem.

Also, I am not buying that Tony Romo’s supposedly “swollen” hand will help the Giants.  That’s because Eeeeeeegs knows a guy who can get you a swollen toe--with or without nail polish--in a few hours for about $50.00.

The Liberal "gotcha" Media is setting Eli up with big expectations so they can take him down a peg.   For example, the pseudo intellectual, leftist LA Times said if Eli throws for 498 yards, he will pass Dan Marino's 1984 single-season passing record.  The same article noted that Eli’s three 400 yard games will qualify him to tie another record held by Marino; four 400 yard games also achieved in 1984.

The only bright spot was that The New York Times said that in the last two games, Eli’s play has, "....ranged from poor to pedestrian."

That evaluation probably came straight from Moscow. (For more analysis from the Kremlin, click here.)

Did you hear that Eli?  The Times is calling you out!  Are YOU going to take that from THEM?

Speaking of quarterbacks, it would have been fun to watch Tony Romo read his morning paper as the Dallas Morning News talked about the "defining performance" Jason Pierre-Paul recently had against the Cowboys.

"[JPP] hammered the Cowboys like a wrecking ball and left his imprint on the game. He collected a team-high eight tackles, forced a fumble, blocked a field goal and recorded two sacks - one of which resulted in a safety."

One can only wonder if Romo had a second glass of orange juice with his breakfast.

The Daily News coverage was a little more balanced saying that the Giants do not have the personnel to cover WRs Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Laurent Robinson and TE Jason Witten and added:

….while the Giants won the first matchup, the Cowboys out-played them. It took a miracle – several actually – for the Giants to win.

Thinking about it more, I am starting to feel better about this game.  You know how it is when you are extra brave?   Well, probably not…

Go Big Blue and Happy New Year!

(*Jerry Jones is a good American--as far as we know--who we hope can enjoys humor.)
