This week the Roundup received an e-mail from "Army2112" who said:
Kudos to the Giants for keeping their spirits high and rolling with the punches with the schedule and venue change. However, Minnesota was w/o their starting quarterback, thrown off by the schedule changes and also distracted by rumors that that Jets hostess had pictures with more or all of Favre. This game could be for all the marbles as the winner would go to the top of the NFC East. Will the Giants get the wrong idea from the blowout they had over a depleted team in disarray?
The Eagles Giants game IS for all the marbles. For the division, anyway. The loser of this game would most likely have to win its two remaining games while praying for two losses from the other team. Not likely.
Steve Smith is out for the year due to season-ending surgery on his knee (cartilage). Manningham (and Nicks) should be good. We should also get O'Hara and Diehl back.
For the Eagles...I would certainly consider THEM the depleted team. Middle Linebacker Stuart Bradley is out for the year with an elbow. Linebacker Keenan Clayton also left Sunday Night's game with a hammy and may not play. Desean Jackson's foot feels "so-so"...he did not practice again today. Shutdown CB, Asante Samuel has missed time over the last 3 games.
Our defense has given up 13 points over the past 10 quarters. Our pass rush is pretty overwhelming. Osi and Tuck are playing at a pro-bowl level. Barry Cofield could be having his best season ever. The secondary is a strength. Pierre-Paul is becoming a FORCE. I expect the Giants to win the game.
