Kenny Phillips' whiff on Brent Celek's TD was as uncharacteristic as it was untimely. I'd expect that of Rolle, not Phillips. He's certainly not on the same "Ed Reed" course I thought he was on before last year's knee injury.
We've been getting our kickoffs out past the 30 yard line for the first time all year and we let it get to our heads. With 6 minutes left, let's focus on the situation, please? Now I know Akers made a BEAUTIFUL kick, but still...there were six minutes left in the game and we had a 14 point lead and FOUR EAGLES were nearer that onside kick than ANY Giant? Unforgivable.
I've been frustrated by Gilbride's brash play-calling for a couple of years now...throwing the ball in obvious running situations. But we got conservative in the 2nd half, trying to protect the lead. We didn't get first downs. We got creamed in the time of possession battle. All the while, Eagles LBs and DBs were dropping off like flies with injuries, creating matchup advantages in the passing game we never got around to taking advantage of. How ironic?
Don't yell at Matt Dodge. He has no idea where the ball is going once it leaves his foot.
