Will Beatty is out with a detached retina. Probably out for the year. Mercifully, he will not have to witness the Giants' collapse in focus.
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise? Last season our OL showed bravado while constantly shuffling with injuries. Maybe now Gilbride will have to "dumb down" the playbook and rip out all of those pages with the delay handoffs and pulling guards...all the stuff that's not working. Can we just put a hat on the guy in front of us and push downhill? I like the sound of that.
Diehl has STUNK since the move from left tackle to left guard. Beatty's old position is left tackle. If Diehl assume's Beatty's position while Boothe--arguably our best OL lately despite being the 6th man--takes over at left guard...maybe it will be an improvement.
We'd better hope so.
