Injuries, Inexperience Take Toll on Giants

By  Eeeeeeeegs

Terrell Thomas, Prince Amukamara (who's not up to speed yet), Brian Witherspoon, Michael Coe, Justin Tryon (remember the plays he made in the Seattle game?) are all CBs we have tried to put across from Corey Webster in lieu of Aaron Ross.  The loss of Jonathan Goff and Michael Boley at LB is killing us.  Forty % of our starters are out.  Osi left the game.  Tuck is playing hurt.  Marvin Austin...the list goes on.  On offense: Manningham, Bradshaw, Hixon (KR, too), Beatty.  Yeesh.

Talent is just ONE dimension, guys.  It's very hard to scheme without EXPERIENCE and CONTINUITY.  New, inexperienced faces go out every week.  Reminds me of the year we got rolled by Carolina at home in the first round.  Eli's first playoff game.

That being said, I think our only recourse is to send the kitchen sink with regularity.  Worst case scenario Green Bay scores quickly, keeping our pass rushers fresh.  Maybe the pressure will cause an occasional takeaway of drive ending sack.

I remember how PISSED I'd get when Gilbride would line up in a shotgun (obvious passing) formation in running situations?  AT LEAST SHOW THEM THE RUN, FORCE THEM TO SUSPECT RUN!  Well, Fewell did that last night with our pass rush.  Not only did we (ineffectively) rush 4 almost every time...we didn't even SHOW blitz to make the OL or QB worry about what to do if we did...which we didn't.  I guess we're just protecting our young LBs...it's too much for them to drop back the extra 3 yards?

Anyway, there was ZERO pressure on Brees.  No sacks.  I think he only went to the ground once (Tuck).  We got picked apart.

LT lived by the mantra "when in doubt rush the QB."  I realize it was the PCP (not inexperience) that created his doubt, but the principle is the same.  There was a play last week where Herzlich vaulted himself over the blocking RB and almost got to Vince Young.  It looked pretty determined and athletic.  Let's see more of that.  Please?
