Reece-onomics 101
If you're scoring at home, or even if you're by yourself, let's do the math. First, lets look at Production.
Talent + Opportunity = Production
Steve Smith 5 catches 63 yards = 0 TDs.
Kevin Boss 8 catches 160 yards = 1 TD (on a 35 yard fake FG)
Victor Cruz 34 catches 588 yards = 4 TDs
Jake Ballard 23 catches 395 yards = 3 TDs
Smith/Boss Totals: 13 catches/223 yards /1 TD
versus
Cruz/Ballard totals: to 57 catches/983 yards/7 TDs .
versus
Cruz/Ballard totals: to 57 catches/983 yards/7 TDs .
It's time for people to stop criticizing Jerry Reece.
My blood pressure...
Troy Aikman made a comment about Eli having the best 4th Quarter QB rating in the NFL (121.7). And it jumps up to 133.3 when the game is within 7 points. SIX nail-biters in a row. Let's count them...
1. Philadelphia - 2 TDs in the last 8:07
2. Arizona - 2 TDs in the last 3:37
3. Seattle - BLOWN 1st and goal from the 3 with 1:26 remaining
4. Buffalo - Game winning FG with 1:32 remaining
5. Miami - 10 unanswered points in the last 10:37 (game winning TD with 5:58)
6. Patriots - 2 Game Winning TDs (the first didn't take) in the last 3:03
As for the nail-biting, I DON'T appreciate it. Will somebody tell Kevin Gilbride to run the stinking ball down their throats on first and goal from the 3! Give me a stinking break! Did we learn NOTHING from the Seattle game? I realize Baas, Snee, Jacobs and Hynoski were out in the Seattle game, but we HAD horses yesterday. Same exact sequence.
1. 1st and Goal from the 4
2. Bullshit Finesse Play-calling
3. Confusion
4. Penalty
5. Interception
You could tell Coughlin got pissed at Gillbride because on the next series we went off tackle to Jacobs (effectively) for the first three plays. We dodged a bullet, but man, our two turnovers (Ross muff and INT in end zone) REALLY kept that New England crowd in the game. I blame the coaches for the INT as much as Eli.
Elisha Nelson Manning - Born January 3, 1981
I know he's only the 7th ranked QB in Fantasy terms this year, tracking toward 4,750/30...but after Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Ben and the idle Peyton...his resume is second to nobody. He has not yet played in half as many games as John Elway and is on pace to eclipse Elway's career passing yards, TDs, and Victories...4th quarter comebacks are a bit tougher to measure, but he's in the conversation.
The whole Boss/Smith vs. Ballard/Cruz productivity comparison comes down to the control in the experiment: #10. I BELIEVE IN ELI!!!
