One Last Cruz for Home State Hero Before Camp

Cruz signed nearly 400 books Sunday, July 22.

Nearly four hundred people bought a copy of the autobiography “Out of the Blue,” by homegrown hero Victor Cruz of Paterson, New Jersey this past Sunday in Mendham Borough, NJ.   Book purchasers lined up outside stores by Mendham Books--which was hosting the event--with family, friends and fellow Giants fans for a chance to get the book autographed as well as to have a photo taken with Cruz.  The book store locked the doors at about 3 PM as people continued to line up to meet the author and wide receiver.

At an earlier signing in Paterson, Cruz told The Record that as a kid he had sought out someone in the city who could be his mentor and athletic role model. But, he added, “There wasn’t anyone coming to Paterson.”

Cruz, who caught 82 passes for 1,536 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2011 according to ESPN.com, must report to Giants training camp in Albany, NY on July 26.   “Out of the Blue” was co-written by Peter Schrager who is a writer for both Foxsports.com and Esquire.com.
