Does Eli Have a Rendezvous with Destiny?

Great things come in three.

There were three Godfather movies.  Most likely, there will be a World War III.  In mathematics, measuring geometric shapes with three sides is called Trigonometry.

In children’s literature, there were the Three Little Pigs and all great literature has three parts; a beginning, middle and end.

The Shamrock, a symbol of Ireland, is also known as the three leaf clover and is a symbol of fortune.  In the Muslim religion, a man may divorce his wife by saying so three times.

In Christianity, there is a Holy Trinity and there were also Three Wise Men.  In Judaism, three symbolizes harmony.  Eli turned 36 on January three.

We need to play Greenbay (Eli’s third post season match-up with them) in Sunday's Wildcard game like it is all on the line.  In life, nothing is guaranteed and Eli may never play in the post season again.  But, three rings is forever.  It allows us to enter The Conversation. (We all know which one.)

Eli gets some short thrift because he is not “charismatic,” and doesn't pal around with sports journalists.  In fact, sometimes, Eli seems like an introvert.

But, whenever there is a temptation to get down on Eli, there is also a reminder about what makes him a desirable player…reliability.

Contrast that with former CowGirls Cornerback Adam Jones who was arrested this week (January 3) for head butting police, poking bar patrons in the eye and then spitting on nurses.  You can’t argue that life is never dull around players like the “Pacman.”

People say Eli is boring and in fact, boring can be good. As for the NYPD, let’s leave that as a nickname for our corner backs.

Go Big Blue!
